    Strawbees STEM Curriculum for TEKS

    This course offers a hands-on STEM curriculum designed to support the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards for Grades 5 and 6, with a central focus on Technology Applications. Through a series of structured, project-based lessons, students engage with key concepts in digital literacy, design, and computational thinking.

    The curriculum emphasizes:

    • Creativity and innovation in technology use
    • Understanding and applying the design process
    • Principles of digital citizenship
    • Foundations of game design and algorithmic thinking
    • Data literacy, including collection, management, and representation

    Each project provides opportunities for students to work collaboratively, apply problem-solving skills, and make meaningful connections between classroom learning and real-world applications. The course is supported by Strawbees Classroom, where teachers can access the full lesson library and accompanying resources.

    Projects include:

    • Building a Parachute lander
    • Designing a physical game
    • Storytelling through character creation
    • Constructing amusement park rides
    • Exploring hands-on algorithms

    Designed with ease of implementation in mind, the course provides ready-to-use worksheets and instructions. Only the Strawbees STEAM Classroom Kit is required. This curriculum aims to deepen students’ understanding through experiential learning, while supporting educators with a clear and manageable structure.
